L’Atelier des Lumières: the new place dedicated to digital art in Paris

On April 13th, the first digital art centre of Paris will open its doors on the Rue Saint-Maur, in the 11th district, near the Hôtel Mareuil. Its name: L’Atelier des Lumières.

Art meets digital technology
It’s in the old Plichon iron foundry, opened in 1835, that the “Atelier des Lumières” is located. Here, the artworks are not hung on the wall but projected from floor to ceiling, on about 3300 sq m! Indeed, this new “art place” offers immersive exhibitions where visitors are literally plunged in artworks. To make this technical prowess real, no less than 120 beamers and 50 speakers are used in both rooms of the location: “La Halle” (1500 sq m) and “Le Studio” (160 sq m). As of April 13th, and until November the 11th, 2018, aficionados of Gustav Klimt and Egon Schiele, two Austrian symbolist painters, will be able to admire over hundreds of their digitised paintings. The staging is made with music to make it even more remarkable. Don’t wait any longer and book your ticket soon!

Cinq fois plus: the new address for a top-class Chinese restaurant in Le Marais

After creating his first two restaurants Deux fois plus de piment and Trois fois plus de piment, the founder and owner Mr Cheng has chosen to open a third restaurant of the same kind, Cinq fois plus de piment, at the heart of the Marais.

Five times tastier!
Opened in April 2017, this new address is based near the Pompidou Center, and has the specificity to be more “chic” than the first two restaurants. On the spot, the decoration is harmonious and modern, with wooden chairs and tables, and spherical glass suspensions. The restaurant has a second room upstairs and even features a terrace. Regarding the menu, we enjoy the Sichuan flavours present in various dishes along with a choice of vegetarian options. Popular dishes include stewed beef or stewed vegetables with rice and Bao-Zi, those famous steamed Chinese bread rolls stuffed with vegetables, chicken, pork or shrimps. Cinq fois plus also serves delicious desserts and home-made juices, as the Dreamy floatting life with hot pepper, strawberries, tomato and orange. Located not far from the hôtel Mareuil, this place is undoubtedly one of the capital’s best addresses in Chinese gastronomy.

Open from Tuesday to Sunday, from noon to 3p.m. then from 7p.m. to 11p.m.
Closed on Monday.
Stewed vegetables with rice: €10.40 / Stewed beef with rice: €13 / Bao-Zi: from €10 / Dreamy floatting life: €8.50.
