3 musicals to discover this November in Paris

Before the end of the holiday season, the Hotel Mareuil recommends 3 of the most famous musicals of all times: ‘’Grease’’, ‘’Singin’in the rain’’ and ‘’Welcome to Woodstock’’. Enjoy an incredible moment with friends, family or your special one!

‘’Grease, the musical’’: the unmissable
The timeless and inevitable musical “Grease” is back in Paris, at the Mogador Theater, reopening after one year of closing due to a fire. It became mythical thanks to the movie realized in 1978, in which John Travolta and Olivia Newton-John perform the title roles of Danny Zuko and Sandy Dumbrowski, the show has not age a day! An opportunity to singing along the hits of the show, from ‘’You’re the One That I Want” to ‘’Sandy’’ and even ‘’Summer Nights’’ or ‘’ We Go Together’’. Dive back to 1959, at the Rydell High School, for a vibrant love story.

‘’ Singin’in the Rain’’: the classic
If one word had to be chosen to describe this musical, it would be ‘unforgettable’. “Singin’in the rain” sets up at the Grand Palais for 47 shows, staged by Robert Carsen. It is impossible to talk about this show without mentioning the American actor Gene Kelly, that played the main role in the “Singin’in the rain” movie in 1952. This Broadway classic also became an American movie classic; picturing Hollywood golden age from the 1920s but also the transition from silent film to modern style movie, through the destiny of 3 artists. On stage, the ‘’triple-threats’’, these singers-actors-comedians deliver a spectacular show, supported by sumptuous clothing and sceneries.

‘’Welcome to Woodstock’’: the historical
To relive the hippy period, head to Le Comedia theater for the “Welcome to Woodstock musical”. On stage, we follow the life and story of a group of friends starting right after May 68, leaving for Woodstock for the biggest concert of all times. On their way, these friends will discover love, drugs and free sex, on Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Janis Joplin, the Who and the Doors songs. It is “first times” experiences, in a musical and psychedelic road trip, that wait the public. 12 artists relay on stage, to dance and sing along the most famous pop rock American songs from 1965 to 1970.
