Kokedamas seize Hotel Mareuil with Ikebanart!

Since last week, the reception of the hotel Mareuil is being decorated with small vegetable planets, come from a wonderful world, Ikebanart’s. This agency of floral and plant decoration, located near the Canal Saint-Martin, is specialised in ikebanas and kokedamas.

An invitation to dream
The purpose of this new arrangement that decorates the hotel, between the reception and the breakfast buffet, is to invite the guest to change universe and enter a fantasy world. To get this magical result, Ikebanart has designed a rack with foam, a strangler fig tree trunk and little epiphyte plants, which do not need soil to live. The ensemble is overcome by suspended plants which grow in the foam, called “Kokedamas“. They look like mini planets floating in the air. These living plants can last for months or years, if they are properly maintained.

As a point of interest, Ikebanart was born from the encounter between two fans and lovers of flowers: Eugénie Myosotis, Ikebana teacher at the Ikenobo school of Kyoto in Japan and Gwenaël Jore, a plant artist. Their common taste for Japanese flower arranging, contemporary art and plant design got them closer to each other in this adventure.
