The Great Chefs’ cake shops

In the Marais, one can either walk around or explore the most beautiful art galleries. But one can also satisfy one’s greed! Here is the proof, three great Parisian pastry chefs have opened their bakeries there. Let’s go for a visit …

1/ Christophe Adam’s Eclair de Génie
Founded in 2012 by Chef Christophe Adam, “L’Eclair de Génie” has now five Parisian stores and 3 in Japan. At the age of 16, he discovered the world of baking alongside pastry chef Legrand in Quimper, in Brittany, his native region. Will ensue many years with the greatest, especially at the Crillon and at Fauchon. With its single-product concept, the chef revisits one of the most famous delicacies in France: the éclair. Vanilla-pecan nuts, caramel with salted butter, lemon and yuzu icing… are all scents that leave us dreamers. As a bonus, we love the decoration of the Marais’s shop, which is decorated in bright yellow. On site, you will also find chocolate candies and a whole range of delicatessen with cocoa.

Open Monday-Friday from 11am to 7pm and Saturday-Sunday from 10am to 7:30pm.
Eclair from €4.50.

2/ Philippe Conticini’s Pâtisserie des Rêves
After opening his first Pâtisserie des Rêves at Longchamp Street in the 16th district of Paris, Chef Philippe Conticini set up shop at the BHV in the Marais. It is on the 3rd floor in the department store that gourmets can meet. After having cut his teeth at the Petrossian and then at the Peltier, the cook revisits since 2010 the pastries of our childhood. Thanks to him, the Paris-Brest, the Saint-Honoré and the chocolate éclair take a more modern face. He offers a range of individual versions and can be ordered for 6, 12 and even 16 people, according to the chosen recipe. We particularly appreciate the decoration of the area, very design, in acid tones which make our mouth water!

Open Monday to Saturday from 9:30am to 8pm.
Nocturnal on Wednesday until 9pm.
Individual Paris-Brest: €5.90.

3/ Christophe Michalak
After finishing his cooking school, the pastry chef of the Plaza Athénée, Christophe Michalak opens a second Parisian address: a bakery in the Marais. Decorated by Marie Deroudilhe and the Vital Agency with a pristine white highlighted with gray, the area becomes graphic. The brand even makes us think of comics. On site, the chef offers his famous caramel with salted butter religieuse, but also a “Kosmiks bar”, individual desserts in the form of verrines. Other surprises to discover: cakes in the shape of XL calissons, with maple syrup, citrus, as well as “Klassiks” which are traditional cakes revisited in an XL version (28 cm long), and proposed per metre. Lemon pie, baba and mille-feuille take a rock’n roll air and it is not displeasing us! You can also discover his latest culinary books, and totally irresistible snacks (nougat, toffees, marshmallow bears…).

Open On Wednesday from 11:30am to 7pm and from Thursday to Sunday from 11:30am to 8pm.
XL cake: €48.

The blogger Delfée tells about her stay at Le Mareuil hotel

Remember when last spring, we launched a contest to offer you an exclusive stay at Le Mareuil hotel. A few weeks after, we announced you the lucky winner: blogger Delfée from Fées Maison.

She chose to enjoy her gift in summer, to discover the capital under a beautiful sun, before telling us her adventures in a charming story embellished with beautiful photos to show, last September.

Here we reveal you some selected pieces, just to make you want to read her article, and visit us for Christmas and New Year or in 2016!

Seduced by our decoration, Delfée found a resemblance between the color coding of our rooms, and creator Paul Smith. We welcome this flattering comparison with pleasure.

Delfée was also captivated by the softness and the fragrance of Vinalie organic products, a brand she did not know, which are available in our rooms and junior suite.

But her favourite is the unrestricted view that Le Mareuil hotel offers on the roofs of the capital. She succumbed to the beauty of zinc roofs and their brick chimneys, typically Parisian.

Botanique restaurant: The gourmet restaurant close to the Mareuil hotel

Located nearby the Mareuil hotel, the Botanique restaurant is a new Parisian restaurant opened by winners of the 2015 laureates of the Bourse de la création Badoit. The distinctive feature of this address is its combination of a wine and tapas bar, a bistro and a gourmet restaurant. Three atmospheres all in one place, what more could you ask for! Two friends have embarked on this adventure: young Chef Sugio Yamaguchi, who cut his teeth with Chef Pierre Sang and wine water Alexandre Philippe. They offer exceptional wine-pairings with a very colourful seasonal food: snail salad and herb dressing, Black Angus beef steak made in two different ways or chestnut cake, figs and meringues. You will thus taste tapas made by the cook, or taste the gourmet dishes according to your wish of the moment. We were taken with the gourmet and creative presentation of the dishes, which really make your mouth water!
