All aboard the new Train Bleu !

After being closed all summer for renovations, the well-known gastronomic restaurant reopened on September 12, 2014. SSP chose agence Duthilleul for the renovation, in coordination with Gares & Connexions. 150 artisans participated in the work : frescos, paintings, stucco and gold have been successfully returned to their original splendor. Full of history and a registered historic monument, the venue has kept its Belle Epoque feel and decoration, alongside contemporary furnishings. The original « Buffet de la Gare » received its new name in 1963 : « le Train Bleu » was named after the legendary Paris-Vintimille midnight blue train. The restaurant is also known for its famous clientele : Colette, Marcel Pagnol, Jean Cocteau, Brigitte Bardot or Jean Gabin to name a few. It was immortalized in a famous scene from the movie « Nikita » by French producer Luc Besson.

A new menu
Le Train Bleu’s all new and freshened up decor called for a new menu. The restaurant’s own chef, Jean-Pierre Hocquet has come up with an all new menu, with the help of Eric Leautey, from Lenôtre, and Christophe Adam, formerly pâtisserie chef at Fauchon and creator of l’Eclair de Génie. They have brought a modern touch to the cuisine, while conserving the well-known dishes for which the restaurant is known, such as leg of lamb served on a cart or baba au rhum. Among the new dishes are sweetbread roasted with onions and celery, garnished with lemon confit and fresh coriander, and served with truffled purée, or turbot poached in shellfish broth, with coconut purée and Romanesco cabbage. A worthy address for all gourmets.

Open daily from 11 :30am to 3pm, and from 7pm to 11pm.
Menus between 62 and 105 euros.
