Grand reopening of the Vincennes Zoo!

Parisians have been waiting 6 years for the Vincennes Zoo’s grand reopening. After 3 long years of work, the animal park opened its doors again on April 12. The well-known zoo has been a part of Paris’ history since 1934, and is now fully renovated. Organized in 5 zones called “biozones” (Europe, Guyana, Madagascar, Patagonia, and Sahel-Sudan), the zoo is home to over 1000 animals from 180 different species.

An entirely new design for the animal park
The renovation took 3 years of hard work to change the face of the zoo. The park’s emblematic rock is still there, only with a new coat of paint. Among the new attractions, you will find a 16-meter-high greenhouse, home to the manatee, one of the zoo’s new stars.  This endangered species lives in fresh water. The greenhouse is designed to imitate the tropical climate of Guyana and Madagascar, with a temperature of 20-25 degrees celsius, and 75% humidity.

A wonderful family outing
The Vincennes zoo is the ideal place for a family outing, while staying at Hotel Mareuil. Dedicated to both research and animal wellfare and conservation, the zoo also teaches facts and knowledge to adults and children alike. Thanks to the many trees and beautiful landscaping, the visit feels like a walk through nature, unlike the circuit in bare straight alleys of many other parks. On site, you will get to see giraffes from Africa, wolves from Spain, as well as the rare white rhinoceros, the anaconda, or the puma. A magical experience that will long be remembered by your children!
