New Morning with a jazzy tune

Nestled between the «grands boulevards» and Canal Saint-Martin, the New Morning is one of the best jazz clubs in Paris. The unfinished slightly industrial decor is striking to the newcomer, but, since its opening in 1981, it has hosted some of the jazz great: from Chet Baker to Stan Getz or Betty Carter. According to the International Herald Tribune, «the New Morning is one of the rare jazz clubs in the world where musicians – who usually stay away from clubs – actually want to perform.»

Intérieur Rue: when street furniture becomes street art

Street art  is often displayed on walls or trains, but also on urban furniture. The Wallworks gallery, near Canal Saint-Martin and Hotel Mareuil, organizes an exhibit featuring the works of about thirty graffiti artists from France and abroad.  They all have one thing in common: urban furniture as canvas for the art. Thus you will see stoplights, train signals, or pedestrian crossing lights, all decorated in bright colors. A bit of pep in the urban scene!

The «Intérieur rue» exhibit, from October 10 through January 9, 2014.
Open Monday through Saturday from 2pm to 7pm.
Free admission.

The medieval Christmas Village in Vincennes

For the end of year festivities, several Christmas markets welcome you in the capital.  We have selected one of them for its unique and appealing charm: the medieval Christmas village at the Vincennes Castle. In this historic setting, children are invited, in the company of their parents, to participate in medieval themed games, admire jugglers and fire spitting artists, troubadours, knights, and magicians in a fairy tale atmosphere. The city of Vincennes also offers a Christmas market from December 9 through December 11, 2013, in the heart of the town.
