La Chaise et l’Ecran (the Chair and the Screen), from June 14 to August 30, 2013
For the 6th consecutive year, the Mairie of the 11th arrondissement in Paris offers a festival of classic films in the most beautiful Parisian quarters. At the Jardin de la Folie Titon (Paris 11th), Les Demoiselles de Rochefort offers a musical and colorful moment. Les Chansons d’Amour by Christophe Honoré is showing Place de la République, a captivating film, full of emotion.

Cinéma au Clair de Lune (Cinema in the Moonlight), from August 1st to August 11th, 2013
All through August, famous places in Paris become movie theaters in the moonlight. From Woody Allen to Diane Kurys and Sacha Guitry, the producers of the 9 films showing this summer have one thing in common: they were all inspired by Paris – the Champs-Elysées Gardens, place des Vosges, Montmartre, les Invalides… What better way to enjoy these movies than in the very place that inspired them ?

Films sous les Etoiles (Films under the Stars), June 27-29, 2013
Nature is the focal point of this festival. To celebrate the 400th birthday of André Le Nôtre the Domaine National de Saint-Cloud offers 3 days of movie projections in the very heart of the garden he designed.  On the last evening, four movies in a row end gloriously with the sunrise on the domain!

Festival du cinéma en plein air (outdoor cinema festival), from July 24 to August 28, 2013
Once again, this now mythical festival will take place at Parc de la Villette, on the prairie du triangle (triangle prairie). The program offers classics as well as lesser known films.  Choose to either sit on the grass or rent a lounge chair, and enjoy the vacation and beach-like feel of this festival!

Celebrate Music Day with your family !

On June 21st, the Fête de la Musique (Music Day) is going to enliven the streets of Paris.  This international event is a way to celebrate the beginning of summer.  Musicians are coming to Paris to make their audiences sing and dance.  From classical music to independent rock, along with electro, reggae, and world music, there will be something for everyone to enjoy.  As usual, public transportation will be available all night long.  For your convenience, Hotel Mareuil has selected 3 events that you will be able to enjoy as a family.


A discovery of Paris :  a musical treasure hunt
This clue game is organized by Rues Méconnues and will be happening on June 21st and 22nd.  The purpose is to get reacquainted with Paris’ 20th arrondissement, while enjoying street animations offered along the way :  a fashion show, dance battles, and activities centered around literature and music for young audiences, are on the program.  An ideal family outing.


Friday June 21, and Saturday, June 22, from 10am to 7pm in the Belleville and Ménilmontant quarters.

Disney songs
In the 15th arrondissement, on Square Necker, songs from Walt Disney movies will be performed.  This 45-minute program will bring to life all your favorite Disney songs.  Performed in the music gazebo, the show will delight audiences of all ages, starting at 7 :45pm.

Back to classics
In the 6th arrondissement, you will be able to have your young ones discover the classics of French variety.  Joël Dalle, who specializes in performing French songs, will be singing with his audience.  The concert will start after booklets with all the lyrics have been distributed.  Don’t miss this opportunity to try your voice out !

Paris Jazz Festival: A jazzy summer at the Floral Park in Paris!

The Paris Jazz Festival is organized each year at the Parc Floral in Paris, for the greatest pleasure of both jazz fans and nature lovers. This year’s festival starts tomorrow with 31 concerts over 8 weekends on the program!

From Soul to Blues
Do you like blues, or are you a fan of soul? No worries, the festival presents all styles.  Artists from all these musical jazz trends will perform this summer, notably on the «Barge à Jazz» (Jazz Barge). The stage is set up on the water, facing a lawn where spectators sit to form a natural amphitheater.


From discovery to discovery
The Paris Jazz Festival is also a great opportunity to discover! This year, the organizers have programmed a focus on Latin Jazz. Former Buena Vista Social Club pianist Roberto Fonseca is one of the performers. Reserve your weekend and discover the jazz dance (jazzé dansé) Saturday June 13 and Sunday the 14th. This mix of dance, accordeon and funk R’n’B from New Orleans is all the rage.  Don’t wait!  Get dancing!

A Family affair
You should know that the Parc Floral de Paris (Paris Floral Park) houses numerous attractions designed especially for your children. Formost, and continuing for the entire festival is the «Jeux du monde» or games from around the world. This attraction is open for your children every Saturday and Sunday from 11:00 am to 7:00 pm.
