Leaving Hotel Mareuil and walking along Canal Saint-Martin on Quai de Valmy for about 15 minutes, you will reach the Stalingrad Rotunda (Rotonde de Stalingrad). Well known for its restaurant, it also offers evening parties that bring to life la nuit Parisienne (Parisian nights). This is your must-go venue.
A historical building
Overlooking the Canal, this building was completed one year before the French Revolution, under the direction of architect Claude Nicolas Ledoux (1736-1806). Since then, the space has been redesigned to become a bar and restaurant, sought-after for its laid-back atmosphere and original setting. On the menu, a mouth-watering cuisine both modern and traditional: haddock in the «fish & chips» style, homemade fries, pea puree and watercress salad, or the roast salmon burger, the casserole of braised veal cheeks with girolles, lardons and puree, and for dessert the very appetizing almond and pistacho tart. Also note the very well stocked wine menu.
Guinguette au palais
For a few months now, the Rotunda has been offering clubbing parties that bring night life to the East side of Paris, and bring together different cultures and people. Other events are organized there as well: exhibits, food tastings, Christmas market, clothing sales, etc… The establishment is open non-stop and a perfect place for a chat over coffee at any time of day, with a great view over the Canal!
Open Tuesday through Sunday from 10am to 2am.
